It was along this sparsely populated stretch of country highway that Butler used a check kiting scheme and numerous illicit loans supplied by the now embattled Alabama One Credit Union to fund several business ventures including a grocery store, a gas station … and a $7million private sewer system.

Route 43, Fosters covers just over 10 square miles and is home to around 270 residents. An unincorporated community in rural Tuscaloosa County along U.S. However, a story that isn’t told in Lake View, is one of Danny Ray Butler, Stan Pate, and the Fosters community. The outcome has not been to the benefit of the residents of those developments nor those who live in the established communities Mike White used to form the Town of Lake View. A private sewer owner from Leeds, Alabama worked with a small group of area residents to hoodwink the small community into forming a 1.6 square mile municipality in order to establish a local government that would provide favorable legislation and financial benefits to his residential developments. It's like calling everyone else on the planet "not Chinese".The citizens of Lake View all know the story of how the town was formed. If you want evidence of Bitcoin's outsize influence and ego with this kind of thing, just think of the term "altcoin", which only makes sense in a world in which not being Bitcoin is a meaningful classification (it was in 2012 not so much now). And, given that it remains the biggest name and market leader, it will continue to hold major influence over the terminology used in the space. Despite the fact that it has been moving toward the store-of-value use case for years, and that things like Taproot take it even further from the generally understood function of a currency, the notion that it's still a "peer to peer electronic cash system" remains central to its own self-image. Even setting aside what the "best and most useful applications" of DLT may be, the sheer numerical reality is that out of the tens of thousands of projects out there, only a small handful are trying to be currencies.īut Bitcoin's identity crisis is a big part of why the term will persist. And I think most people and companies think of bitcoin as an asset anyway.

I think all of these use cases can be summarized by the word “cryptoassets”. Such as owning foreign stocks (Mirror), or having a trustless stablecoin (Terra), financial privacy, money laundering (which I’m not endorsing), trustless asset swaps, and innovative financial apps (Ethereum). because all of these projects currently can be used to solve difficult real world problems. I think currently the most useful projects are projects such as Mirror Protocol, Terra, privacy coins (Monero and Secret Network or any other privacy project with private smart contracts), Ethereum and etc. I really think best and most useful applications of cryptocurrencies are not as currencies. (It’s too volatile to be a currency and etc.) Whenever I ask no-coiners how they feel about cryptocurrencies, they always mention that they don’t like them because they don’t think most people would adopt them as currencies. r/CryptoCurrencyMemes r/CryptoTechnology r/CryptoMarkets r/CryptoRecruiting r/Best_of_Crypto r/BitcoinMarkets r/BitcoinMining r/CryptoTrade r/Ethfinance r/EthTrader r/Jobs4Crypto r/Liberland r/NFT r/OpenBazaar r/GPUmining Mastering Ethereum (Open Source book) Exchanges IBM's ZeroToBlockchain (Free learning resources)
